When Disaster Strikes: Standing Together in the Face of Loss

In September 2026, devastating floods and landslides struck several parts of Nepal, causing widespread destruction and severely affecting vulnerable communities. Families lost their homes, livelihoods, essential belongings, and access to basic necessities. Damaged roads and disrupted transportation further isolated affected communities, making it difficult for families to access food, safe drinking water, and other essential supplies. Amid this crisis, Dreamer Trust, as part of its Disaster Relief initiative—one of its flagship programmes alongside One Rupee Thali, Mukta Siksha Pathshala, and Drishti Shakti—extended humanitarian assistance to flood-affected communities in Rasuwa and Trishuli, Nepal.

Under the campaign “Together for Hope and Humanity,” the Dreamer Trust team travelled from Kolkata to Kathmandu and subsequently reached the affected areas of Rasuwa after overcoming significant challenges caused by damaged roads and difficult travel conditions. The campaign focused on reaching families facing immediate hardship and providing essential relief support, including ration, dry food items, and safe drinking water.

The initiative was guided by the belief that during a disaster, timely support can provide not only essential resources but also a sense of dignity, solidarity, and hope to communities struggling to recover.

What we witnessed on the ground was far more devastating than expected. Floods and landslides had damaged entire village, roads, houses after houses. Countless families struggling to find food, shelter, and safety. In several areas, families were still surrounded by mud, debris, and damaged infrastructure even days after the disaster.
