Dreamer Trust

At Dreamer Trust, every plate of food carries a story. Some are stories of struggle, some of survival—and some, like Jobadar Ali Mondal’s, stories of quiet resilience and unspoken pain. More Than a Meal.

A Life Once Full of Strength

Jobadar Ali Mondal, a 58-year-old resident of Madhyamgram, West Bengal, was once a hardworking van driver. Day after day, he cycled through the streets, ferrying passengers and goods, earning an honest living to support his family. Life was not easy, but it was dignified.

However, time and illness slowly took away his strength. Today, Jobadar suffers from severe nerve disorders that have made it impossible for him to continue his work. The hands that once powered his livelihood now struggle with even the simplest tasks.

Abandoned When He Needed Support the Most

While illness weakened his body, what truly broke him was something far deeper—abandonment.

His own son, whom he once raised and provided for, has turned away from him. Left without family support, Jobadar now depends on the occasional kindness of neighbours and strangers, surviving day to day with uncertainty.

A Plate That Means Life

In the midst of this silence and neglect, Jobadar found a small but powerful source of hope—Dreamer Trust’s One Rupee Thali.

Every day, he arrives early at the food distribution point, ensuring he doesn’t miss his meal. He eats quietly, with gratitude in every bite, never wasting a single grain.

To many, it may look like a simple plate of rice and curry. But for Jobadar, it is something far more meaningful.

“This plate might look like rice and curry to others. But to me, it’s the only thing that tells me — I am still alive.”

At Dreamer Trust, we believe that food is not just about survival—it is about respect, care, and belonging. Through our One Rupee Thali initiative, we aim to ensure that no one feels forgotten, especially those who once gave everything to their families and society.
